All praise be to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, by His grace we have been granted countless blessings. One such blessing is the ease with which we have been able to establish this Doctoral Program in Psychology. Blessings and peace be upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The Doctoral Program in Psychology (PDP) at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) was established as a manifestation of UMS’s commitment to developing psychological science from the undergraduate, professional, master’s, and doctoral levels. The establishment of these four programs reflects the UMS Faculty of Psychology’s long journey in developing psychological science, enabling students to study psychology in a coherent and comprehensive manner.

The PDP was established based on Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education No. 808/E/O/2022, dated November 2, 2022. Initially, the PDP focused on two specializations: Islamic Psychology and Educational and Developmental Psychology. These two specializations are the most sought-after majors by prospective doctoral students.

Graduates of this program are projected to be able to develop knowledge in the field of psychology integrated with Islamic values ​​through research and disseminate it in scientific publications, both nationally and internationally.

Graduates of this program will be awarded a Doctorate (Dr.) in psychology.
